Alcides Escobar contract with the Kansas City Royals...
Latest contract details:
Royals signed SS Alcides Escobar to a four-year, $10.5 million contract extension with club options for 2016 and 2017.
Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star passed along the terms of the deal, which can max out at $21.75 million if the options are exercised. The deal will buy out all three of his arbitration seasons while the options cover his first two years of free agency. Escobar, 25, owns an underwhelming .252/.294/.339 batting line over his first 350 games in the majors, but has excellent speed and is an elite defender at the shortstop position.
