Mark Sanchez says he's been in contact with Santonio Holmes for the "whole offseason."
"We've been in contact really this whole off season, and I think a bigger deal was made out of (Holmes' critical comments) than needed to be," Sanchez said. The two will be married at the hip for at least the next two seasons after the Jets handed Sanchez a panicked "apology" extension on Friday. It's more likely they sink together than swim, though it would be shocking if Holmes didn't improve on his 51/654/8 line in 2012.

It's top six or seven QB money, and an absurd payday for a quarterback the Jets were originally hoping to force into a camp babble. It all but guarantees Sanchez will be the Jets' starter the next two seasons. It's also safe to say Chad Henne will no longer be an option for Gang Green. Over three years and 47 NFL starts, "Sanchize" is the owner of a 73.2 quarterback rating, 55.3 completion percentage and 55:51 TD:INT ratio.
